2012 Tennessee Hospitality Association Day on the Hill is a SUCCESS!
2012 Tennessee Hospitality Association Day on the Hill is a SUCCESS!
Last Wednesday February 22, over 120 hoteliers, restaurateurs and hospitality/tourism professionals gathered at the Tennessee State Capitol to meet with legislators and emphasize the economic importance of hospitality and tourism to the state’s economy.
The day started with a Pancakes and Politics Breakfast for over 300 people. That was followed by a morning session during which we heard keynote addresses delivered by Governor Bill Haslam, Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey, Speaker Beth Harwell, and Commissioner of Tourism Susan Whitaker. Throughout the day, our attendees had 83 scheduled appointments with legislators and visited the Senate Health and Welfare Committee meeting and the Tourism Budget Hearing. The day concluded with a Legislative Reception, hosted by the Nashville Sheraton Downtown and attended by over 400 people.
Overall, the day was a huge success. This is one of our most important annual events because it effectively demonstrates the strength and influence of our industry. The impact and impression made by our Day on the Hill lasts all year and makes it much easier for our lobbyists to protect our interests at the Capitol. We hope to have an even larger group next year – together, we will continue to show the public and our legislators that we are one of the strongest, most vital industries in the state of Tennessee!
